Job Description:
The Lead Systems Engineer - Mission Assurance Lead will be responsible for leading mission assurance activities to provide independent oversight for the respective system designs, product builds, testing, integration, and support required for programs within the Electronic Warfare Sector of the Space and Airborne Systems business segment.
The position will report to the Director of Quality and Mission Assurance for Electronic Warfare Systems.
The Mission Assurance lead will be responsible for overall mission success of the program and provide independent oversight across the full product lifecycle process.
This position will validate program processes and products against stakeholder and mission needs across disciplines including, but not limited to:
Reliability, Maintainability, material and processes, system safety, Quality Assurance, and Configuration Management.
Additional responsibilities will include identification and mitigation of design, production, test, and field support risks that may affect the completion of the mission and/or operational succes.
This is a hands-on, highly involved position.
Essential Functions:
Lead implementation of new processes, activities, and culture that enhance the customer experience and engage every employee in a quality focused mindset Perform design reviews and facilitate design and quality concurrent Engineering Provide independent evaluation of technical gate reviews to ensure technical rigor is being applied to the process Collection and analysis of internal performance metrics to develop zero defect plans and report to Senior leadership on business performance including action plans to improve business execution and status of strategic initiatives Hands on leadership with responsibilities for resolving technical challenges, ensuring successful tactical execution, as well as creating and implementing the strategic vision for the Quality and Mission Assurance department Work closely with the Program teams and the functional organizations in a DOD environment to ensure that all phases of the customer life cycle, from early customer involvement through post-delivery support, meet the requirements for mission success Review and verify compliance of all Work Package Descriptions (WPDs) issued for Quality tasks for proposals and ongoing contracts/projects Develop and implement Quality plans Utilize Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) data to improve yields and reduce rework during engineering and manufacturing efforts Verify subcontractor inspection or technical document preparation procedures to verify compliance with contract requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience or Graduate Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering with hardware development processes related to Space & Airborne Systems or Electronic Warfare Systems Ability to obtain an Interim Secret Security Clearance, US Citizenship required Preferred Additional Skills:
In depth knowledge of quality and reliability methods and procedures for hardware and software systems as they apply to the aerospace or electronic industry Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification and/or proven education or work history in leading and implementing projects Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve timely results Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including communications, facilitation, consulting, coaching, and influencing Highly collaborative style, capable of working across multiple functional areas to drive results Experience with Configuration Control management practices Experience with MRP, ERP, Agile Oracle, Windchill, Doors Software suites Experience with NASA, J-STD, and IPC standard implementation ASQ certification preferred; Experience managing AS9100 certified business Current Secret Security Clearance Recommended Skills (American Society For Quality) Asq Certified Aerospace Basic Quality System Standards Aerospace Engineering Aerospace Industries Agile Methodology Blackbelt Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
